Welcome to the about page. My name is Eric Ellen and I have been involved in photography ever since high school. My first real jump into photography came when I was in college when I purchased my first Nikon SLR (Nikon FA) in 1994. As a result for my love of photography I became head photographer of my University yearbook in 1995. In 1997 I purchased my second Nikon SLR (N6006) to replace my fully manual FA. Finally in 2004 I switched over to digital photography and purchased a Canon SD200 3.5 megapixel camera. Its with this camera that most of the photos on the site were taken. I still have plans to purchase a Nikon digital SLR however they are still out of my price range.
Digital photography enabled me to take some pictures that I was never able to. Having the ability to view the photos immediately after taking the picture allows me to modify the settings until the perfect outcome is achieved. This is especially helpful when taking night shots as in the Bellagio photo and macro shots as in the Sunflower picture.
I would consider myself a very amateur photographer as opposed to an amateur photographer since most of my great photos were more the result of luck rather than talent.
